Energy Conservation Tips
- Remember to switch the lights off when you leave the room.
- Adjust your heater controls to cool rooms down, don't just open.
- If you reduce your heating temperature by 1°C it can cut your fuel bill.
- If you need to replace your heating boiler, think of buying a more efficient condensing boiler that could reduce the energy you use by up to 30%.
- Insulate your loft with at least 400mm of insulation material. Make sure you lag any cold-water pipes in the loft, but don't lag under the cold-water tank.
- Have a shower instead of a bath - a shower uses much less water than a bath does, so it saves energy.
- Make sure that your hot-water cylinder is lagged with at least an 80mm lagging jacket.
- Don't leave your computer, printer, fax machine or photocopier on stand-by or overnight – switch them off.
- Don't leave mobile charges on charge unnecessarily.
- Why not walk, cycle or use public transport to get to and from work.
